We have to ensure that horses are going to the right place
Adoption rulesThe majority of horses we have up for adoption are retired trotters who have finished their racing career. While they tend to be very kind-natured as a breed, they are ex-racehorses and require experienced homes. Most of them would suit low-level, hacking homes where they can enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.
Our contract
Adoption agreement
Please read it carefully. If you have any questions regarding the agreement, please contact us.
Ownership
We do not have horses for sale. Once an RMJ horse, always an RMJ horse. The loaner fully understands that the equine placed in their care is under a loan agreement only. Therefore, cannot be sold, under any circumstances. Loaner agrees to maintain the care needed to support the equine whilst in their
care. Food, turn out, shelter, worming, inoculations, dentistry, and farrier bills must all be supplied and paid for by the loaner to maintain the equine’s correct and proper care.
Loaner agrees, should the equine need to be returned, for any reason, they are to contact the rescue immediately, and give a minimum of 14 days’ notice that they wish to end the contract placed on the equine.
Loaner agrees to pay a donation of £1000 direct to the company transporting the horse, this sum is solely for the transport costs and does not, in any form, constitute the purchase of the horse. This fee is non-refundable.
Use of the horse
Loaner agrees the horse will never be used for breeding purposes.
Loaner agrees the horse will not be raced, under any code whilst in their care.
Loaner agrees the rescue takes no responsibility for any damages caused whilst the horse is in their care.
Loaner agrees they are the main caregiver.
Health and general condition
Loaner agrees that no horse comes with any form of warranty and agrees, should any equine become unwell whilst, in their care, they MUST seek veterinary assistance at the earliest opportunity.
We do check up on the horses when they arrive at RMJ but there is a possibility that some injury or behavior appears later. It is our aim to give as much information as we have about adoptable horses since we love success stories when the right horse meets the right person.
Therefore please bare with us if we ask a lot of questions about you.
Taking back a horse
We just have to add this here. We believe that you have the best intention to help but life can change and keeping a horse is a difficult task. Sometimes it is hard to admit that one can not keep up. Please let us know if you are experiencing any issues.
Loaner agrees that should the Rescue have a legitimate issue with any of the equines
placed in their care, or they feel that proper care is not being met, the rescue withholds the right to reclaim the equine and terminate the loan agreement with immediate effect.
We shall stay updated
Loaner agrees if they need to move any equine from the registration address to a new address the rescue must be fully updated before the equine is moved.
We need to know what is going on with our beloved horses. Hope you understand.
We understand that all good has an end
But again, we need to know what is going on. The loaner agrees that the horse shall not be euthanized, without full and unequivocal consent from the Charity.

Horses waiting for adoption
See the horses we have in our care right now. Not all ponies are suitable for adoption, due to age, injury, or behavioral issues.
If you can`t find anything right now but are still interested to adopt, skip to the next page and fill out the Adoption Application Form. This does not obligate you to accept anything, but we keep you in mind if we have a suitable horse.
Testimonials
Feedback from our Sponsors
Sponsoring a horse at RMJ is an amazing experience. It is an incredible opportunity one should not miss out on. The love and joy a horse could give you no one can explain it. It is so rewarding to work and spend time with such a beautiful creature
Sponsoring one of the horses at RMJ is a unique and rewarding experience. It is a special chance one should not miss out on to find and support beauty and peace and to know that you are doing something noble. Both myself and my family felt the beauty and the blessing of being close to these wonderful beings as often as possible
We decided to sponsor Bubbles for 3months as I strongly support the cause of RMJ and admire their endless hard work. My kids are always welcome with open arms by all RMJ team, giving them a chance to spend quality time with animals but also teach them how to treat the horses. My youngest loves Bubbles! Thank you RMJ
